Fellowships
You will find information about all fellowships available for courses in the Netherlands at the
grantfinder website. At the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands we only facilitate the procedure for the Netherlands Fellowship Programme. The (new) Netherlands Fellowship programme (NFP) was implemented from January 2003, and is financed from the Netherlands Government budget of development cooperation.
The programme focuses on meeting the need for further training- and capacity building in a wide range of governmental organisations. The NFP target group consists of mid-career professionals who are already in employment and who are nationals of a selected number of countries, including Ghana.
The NFP offers fellowships for master's degree programmes, short courses, PhD studies, tailor-made trainings and refresher courses. Those interested are encouraged to visit the (Ghana) Ministry of Finance (Social Sector Policy Unit, tel: 021-686206, Mr. Alexander Kwaning) in Accra for brochures and further details about the NFP.
The application procedure for the master's degree programmes and for short courses is explained below. For the other programmes please visit
www.nuffic.nl or contact the Ministry of Finance.
Application procedure for master's degree programmes and for short courses.
1. Check whether you qualify for the NFP (conditions listed on the
NUFFIC website).
We consider you a mid-career professional only if you have at least three years of relevant, full time working experience (excluding your national service).
2. Apply for academic admission to the course of your choice directly to the Dutch institute offering the course. Eligible courses are listed on
www.nuffic.nl.
3. Once the admission letter is received from the Dutch institute, you complete the NFP application form. (N.B. You have to submit the filled form with the original letter or fax of admission from the institute directly to you.) You can also download the form from the Nuffic website
www.nuffic.nl or collect it from the (Ghana) Ministry of Finance (Social Sector Policy Unit, tel: 021-686 101/168, Ms. Becky Barden) in Accra. Please note that for additional requirements you will also have to contact the Ministry of Finance.
4. Submit your completed NFP application form at the Ministry of Finance, accompanied by the following:
• copy of the holder page of your passport (expiry date to be clearly visible and fall at least six weeks after the end of the course);
• original letter or fax, of conditional admission, directly from the host institution in The Netherlands;
• a letter from your employer;
• one current passport picture;
• copies of your educational records, certified by the (Ghananian) educational institutions concerned;
• since the Ghana official language is English, proof of passing an English language test is not required;
• application forms without a valid e-mail address can unfortunately not be accepted.
5. In case you are granted a fellowship, you will be contacted by the Royal Netherlands Embassy.
Please, be patient and do not contact the Fellowship Officer at the Royal Netherlands Embassy, untill you are notified about being awarded the fellowship. The above information is subject to change without prior notice.
