ABOLITION OF REQUIREMENT OF TRANSIT VISA AS OF 1 MAY 2008
As of 1 May 2008 both Ghanaian and Nigerian passport holders do no longer require a transit visa to pass through the transit zone of a Netherlands' airport.

This abolition is only applicable if nationals of Ghana and Nigeria are holder of a valid visa for either Canada, Japan, USA, Switzerland and/or one of the EER Member States when returning (home) from one of the aforementioned countries. The same exemption applies to those having another (final) destination, f.e. Cuba or Turkey, whilst still being in possession of one the afore mentioned valid visas (Canada, Japan, USA, Switzerland and/or one of the EER Member States) endorsed in their passport. Also in these cases, both Ghanaian and Nigerian passport holders do not require a transit visa any more.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR VISA APPLICANTS
Visa applications for The Netherlands (including applications for Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles) may be submitted at the Joint Visa Reception Centre (Netherlands desk) without prior appointment between 08.00 am. and 02.00 pm. or directly to the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands by prior appointment. When submitting visa applications at the visa reception centre, applications do not have to submit their applications in person, but may choose to send a representative instead.
